Outstanding characteristics
Located on reclaimed land on Tuan Chau Island, the par 72 golf course is partially bordered by Ha Long Bay. Spanning from 7,388 yards to 5,220 yards in length, Tuan Chau is designed by Pacific Coast Design, who previously completed the Kings Island - Mountainview, Heron Lakes, and Ruby Tree courses.
The layout of Tuan Chau consists of two sets of nine holes, giving it a somewhat links-style atmosphere with its undulating greens, rolling fairways, and over 100 small pot bunkers. However, unlike typical fake links-style courses, Tuan Chau incorporates water hazards on all but two holes, alongside several large beach bunkers and palm trees. This design pays homage to the origins of golf rather than imitating a true links-style course. The use of Platinum Seashore Paspalum grass ensures suitable playing conditions year-round.
One unique feature of Tuan Chau is that floodlights illuminate every hole, allowing for late afternoon or night golf. With short distances between adjacent holes and minimal changes in elevation, the course is easily walkable.
