Outstanding characteristics
Hoiana Shores Golf Club is Vietnam's golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones II Golf Course Architects (RTJ II). Situated along the Vietnamese coastline, the course is located 45 minutes south of Danang International Airport and 8 kilometers south of the Hoi An Ancient Town UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Hoiana Shores features a unique link design that takes players through dunes. The town itself is famous for its lanterns, and in keeping with this theme, lanterns are used instead of flags to mark the pins at Hoiana. The techniques used in constructing the course ensured that the natural dune and pine landscape was preserved. This allowed for the creation of holes that weave through the Casuarina trees and native brush in the area.
Some of the holes, particularly the final ones, are located right next to the sea and are played within the coastal dunes. The course has a firm playing surface and showcases many characteristics typically found in British Isles' links layouts, but in a tropical environment. Hoiana Shores offers a range of setup options, suitable for both professional and recreational players. The round at Hoiana Shores Golf Club reaches its most exciting point on the back nine. Situated near the shoreline, Holes 16, 16, and 17 offer a unique challenge as the wind blows directly from the sea, affecting the fairways and greens. It is crucial to carefully aim in order to hit each green within the expected number of strokes. The last hole takes players back to the clubhouse, playing against the prevailing wind. Hoiana Shores Golf Club is just one part of the larger Hoiana complex, which also includes luxury hotels, entertainment venues, and residential areas.
The golfing experience at Hoiana Shores is exceptional, offering top-notch facilities and services comparable to those found in a luxurious 5-star resort. This golf club contributes to Vietnam's renowned golf coast, which is already famous for its impressive selection of top-tier golf courses. While the green fees may be on the higher side and tee times limited, the Hoiana Shores Golf Club is definitely worth playing, regardless of the costs involved.
