Golf Club Carimate

Golf Club Carimate was created in 1962 together with the construction of residential housing, as even at that time, the novel prospect of living in the verdant golf greens was deemed attractive to home buyers. Today Carimate is taken as a prime example for any real estate project by developers interested in putting environmental respect as a prime concern when planning golf estates.
This prime area is situated in the foothills of Brianza halfway between Milan and Como. Initially belonging to the Baroness Arnaboldi Cazzaniga whose family had owned the estate since 1700, the Park and Castle were sold to the Società Generale Immobiliare of Roma. The dimension of the estate allowed for an ambitious project, at the center the ancient Castle, surrounding it with a residential area of single-family villas, about four hundred, none of which higher than the surrounding trees and designing a golf course in the remaining 60 hectares.

The Club House - A masterpiece of Italian design

The architects Vico Magistretti and Guido Veneziani leaders in their field were entrusted with the Club House project and completed the building in 1962. The building arranged in several levels follows the natural contours of the terrain with a low environmental impact for a building of this size. The main floor on the upper level houses the bar, lounge and gaming rooms and sliding glass doors open to wide terraces that look onto the course. The well-worn wooden floor tells its own story of the golfers who come to relax after a good game. The prevailing colors indoors and outdoors are white for the walls and red for the windows, according to the classical “Carimate” chairs which are red with straw seats. The Club House has been recently enlarged and modernized by Architect Gregorio Caccia Dominioni following a project of renewal of the whole Club.
